    My pick: Silver Lake is the most scenic. But from Yosemite Valley you can only reach it over Tioga Pass (Hwy 120), which often closes for snow in late October. I didn't check whether the pass is open, so look that up first. If it's closed, or you want the easy choice, take Codorniz at Eastman Lake. It's cheap, has plenty of open sites, and is about a 1.5-hour drive to the South Entrance.

    The search index also shows Old Shady Rest in Mammoth Lakes (about 26 open sites, $32) and Hidden View at Hensley Lake (about 38 open, $20), but I didn't check those against live data. Popular sites can be taken quickly, so book soon. You can also watch the Yosemite campgrounds for cancellations.
