Pick something good to watch tonight

Here's how to find something good to watch with ChatGPT or Claude: the highest-rated movies on Netflix right now, so you stop scrolling.

  1. 01

    Add Firecrawl to your AI

Some sources ask you to accept their terms first, in Alexandria in your dashboard.

  2. 02

    Copy the prompt

@Firecrawl Use Alexandria to find the highest-rated movies on Netflix in the US right now, and tell me which ones are worth watching tonight.

    What came back

Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) sent back, word for word:

I pulled Netflix US movies from JustWatch through Alexandria twice: once sorted by IMDb score, and once by what's trending now. The data is current as of today, Oct 20, 2026.

    My picks for tonight

    MovieIMDbRTRuntimeWhy
The Prestige (2006)8.577%2h10The highest-rated movie that's also trending this week. A Nolan film about rival magicians that pays off at the end.
Godzilla Minus One (2023)7.699%2h05Huge spectacle with a real emotional story. One of the best-reviewed films in the catalog.
Heat (1995)8.384%2h50Pacino vs. De Niro, with a famous downtown shootout. Pick it if you have the whole evening.
Aliens (1986) / Alien (1979)8.4 / 8.493% / —~2h eachBoth are on Netflix, and both are trending as Halloween nears. Alien is horror; Aliens is action.
I'm Still Here (2024)8.197%2h16Oscar-winning Brazilian drama, and trending right now. Choose it if you want something moving.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)8.4—1h57The safest pick for a group or family.
Memento (2000)8.494%1h53Short and sharp. Good if you want a puzzle.

For something spooky: Psycho (8.5, 97%, under 2 hours). For a fun one, Ready or Not (89% RT, 96 minutes). For something more intense, Green Room (90% RT) or 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (91% RT).

Outside Hollywood: 12th Fail (8.7, 179k votes) and Laapataa Ladies (8.3, 100% RT) are both excellent Indian films. Grave of the Fireflies is a masterpiece, but too sad for a casual night.

Trending, but I'd skip them: Sacrifice (5.0), The Storm (5.1), Blackout (3.9) and The Breadwinner (19% RT). They're popular right now, but reviewers don't rate them.

The raw IMDb ranking puts a few things at the top that aren't really tonight's-movie options. The #1 entry, Wan Pîsu Fanretâ, is a 25-minute anime special. Others are documentaries or concert films with only a few hundred votes. I left those out and favoured films with lots of votes. JustWatch also didn't list a "leaving Netflix" date for any of these.

If you can only watch one: The Prestige. If you want something lighter and shorter, Memento.
