Game asset credits audit

Use when a game studio, indie developer or publisher is preparing a release and needs to check that every third-party 3D model, texture, sound and music track in the build is licensed for it. Re-reads each asset's current record on Sketchfab, Poly Haven, ambientCG, NASA 3D Resources, Openverse, SoundBible, BigSoundBank, Free Sounds Library, ccMixter or NPS, flags licences that block release, and writes the credits screen text.

# Game asset credits audit

The input is the team's asset list: a spreadsheet, a CREDITS file or a list of asset page URLs. For each asset you need its source page URL or source id. Ask whether the release is commercial and whether the game is sold, free with ads, or free.

## 1. Re-read every asset

Every detail capability below accepts the asset's page URL as `url`, so a pasted link is enough. Read the current record, because a licence can change after download.

1. 3D models: @[Sketchfab · Get model](alexandria:sketchfab-com/models-3d/get_model), @[NASA 3D · Get model](alexandria:science-nasa-gov/models-3d/get_model).
2. Textures, HDRIs and models: @[Poly Haven · Get asset](alexandria:polyhaven-com/graphics-assets/get_asset), @[ambientCG · Get asset](alexandria:ambientcg-com/pbr-assets/get_asset).
3. Sound effects: @[SoundBible · Get sound](alexandria:soundbible-com/sound-effects/get_sound), @[BigSoundBank · Get sound](alexandria:bigsoundbank-com/sound-effects/get_sound), @[Free Sounds Library · Get sound](alexandria:freesoundslibrary-com/sound-effects/get_sound), @[NPS · Get sound](alexandria:nps-gov/sound-effects/get_sound), @[Openverse · Get audio](alexandria:openverse-org/audio-assets/get_audio).
4. Music and stems: @[ccMixter · Get upload](alexandria:ccmixter-org/audio-assets/get_upload), and Openverse for Jamendo or Freesound music.

An asset from a source not listed here is reported as "not checked" with its URL. Do not infer its licence from the team's spreadsheet.

## 2. Classify each licence

For each record, take the licence code and its flags (`commercial_use` or `commercial_use_allowed`, `modification_allowed`, `attribution_required`, `restricted`), and classify it:

- **Clear:** CC0, public domain, U.S. Government work, Poly Haven and ambientCG CC0, provided the record shows no blocking flag below.
- **Clear with credit:** CC BY (any version). Requires the attribution line in the game or its credits.
- **Clear with conditions:** CC BY-SA (changes to that asset must be shared under the same licence); NASA media usage guidelines (no implied NASA endorsement, insignia restricted); Sampling+ (only as part of a new work, never the raw clip).
- **Blocks a commercial release:** any record with `restricted: true`, or with `commercial_use` or `commercial_use_allowed` false. Also any NC licence, personal use only, fair use, or an unknown or missing licence. A null `commercial_use` is blocking unless the code is CC0, public domain or U.S. Government work. A blocking flag wins over a permissive-looking code. For a noncommercial release, report these as flags instead, except personal use only, fair use, and an unknown or missing licence, which still block.
- **Blocks any modified use:** any ND licence or `modification_allowed: false` when the asset was edited, which is almost always true in a game.

Also flag a record whose current licence differs from the one in the team's list, a Sketchfab model with `is_age_restricted` true, and an Openverse or ccMixter item marked mature or nsfw.

## Write the audit

- **Release verdict:** clear to ship, or the number of blocking assets.
- **Blocking assets table:** asset, where it is used if the team said, source, current licence, why it blocks, and a suggested fix (replace, contact the creator for a licence, or remove).
- **Full asset table:** asset, source, licence, class, attribution required, record URL.
- **Credits text:** grouped by models, textures, sound, music. Use each record's `attribution` line verbatim. Add "Courtesy NASA" for NASA assets and "Downloaded from www.freesoundslibrary.com" where that site's record asks for it. List CC0 and public-domain assets by name and source as a courtesy.
- **Not checked:** assets whose source has no capability here, with their URLs.
- **Sources:** cite every licence to the capability and record it came from, with the read date. This is a licence record check, not legal advice.
