Solar fleet underperformance diagnosis

Use when a solar asset manager sees a site producing below budget and needs to know whether weather explains it. Compares the site's daily irradiance with its climate normal, checks for smoke, snow or storm alerts over the period, and pulls clear satellite views of the site, then separates weather from equipment causes.

# Solar fleet underperformance diagnosis

For one site and the underperforming period. Site coordinates are a GeoJSON Point or the array polygon.

## 1. Was there less sun

1. Read @[NASA POWER · Daily weather](alexandria:power-larc-nasa-gov/weather-history/daily_weather) for the period (ALLSKY_SFC_SW_DWN, T2M, PRECTOTCORR).
2. Read @[NASA POWER · Climate normals](alexandria:power-larc-nasa-gov/weather-history/climate_normals) for the same month. Compute the irradiance shortfall versus normal.

## 2. Smoke, snow and storms

3. Read @[National Weather Service · Alerts history](alexandria:api-weather-gov/weather/alerts_history) for the site over the period (31 days per call) for "Air Quality", "Smoke", "Winter Storm" and "Wind" events.

## 3. What the site looks like

4. Find clear Sentinel-2 scenes over the site with @[Earth Search · Search scenes](alexandria:earth-search-aws-element84-com/satellite-imagery/search_scenes) (low cloud cover).
5. Render the newest clear scene and one from before the shortfall with @[Earth Search · Render clip](alexandria:earth-search-aws-element84-com/satellite-imagery/render_clip) to look for snow cover, flooding or vegetation over the array.

## Write the diagnosis

- **Weather share:** irradiance shortfall versus normal and alert days.
- **Site view:** what the images show.
- **Residual:** shortfall not explained by weather, which points at equipment, soiling or curtailment.
- **Next steps:** inspection items for the O&M contractor.
- **Sources:** cite every figure to the capability and record it came from. Say what could not be found rather than guessing.
