Export nutrient claim consistency check

Use when a food exporter or brand selling the same product in the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Australia needs its nutrition panel and claims to hold up against each market's reference food database. Compares the product's stated values with official reference values per country and flags claims that would fail in one market.

# Export nutrient claim consistency check

For one food (for example lamb leg, rolled oats, almonds) and the nutrient claims on your label. The same food is matched in each national database.

## 1. Find the reference food in each market

1. US: search @[USDA FoodData Central · Search foods](alexandria:fdc-nal-usda-gov/foods/search_foods) (Foundation or SR Legacy) and read @[USDA FoodData Central · Get food](alexandria:fdc-nal-usda-gov/foods/get_food).
2. Canada: search @[Canadian Nutrient File · Search foods](alexandria:food-nutrition-canada-ca/foods/search_foods) and read @[Canadian Nutrient File · Get food](alexandria:food-nutrition-canada-ca/foods/get_food) (pass the serving measure you print).
3. Netherlands: search @[NEVO-online · Search foods](alexandria:nevo-online-rivm-nl/foods/search_foods) (lang en) and read @[NEVO-online · Get food](alexandria:nevo-online-rivm-nl/foods/get_food).
4. Australia: search @[AFCD · Search foods](alexandria:afcd-foodstandards-gov-au/foods/search_foods) and read @[AFCD · Get food](alexandria:afcd-foodstandards-gov-au/foods/get_food).
Record the same nutrients per 100 g in each: energy, protein, fat, saturated fat, sugars, fibre, sodium and any nutrient you claim (for example iron or vitamin B12).

## 2. Compare with the label

5. Put your label values next to each reference. Where references disagree by more than 20%, note which preparation or cut each database used (raw versus cooked, trimmed versus untrimmed).

## 3. How competitors present it

6. Search @[Open Food Facts · Search](alexandria:world-openfoodfacts-org/foods/search) for the same product type in each country and read two competitor panels with @[Open Food Facts · Product](alexandria:world-openfoodfacts-org/foods/product).

## Write the consistency check

- **Matrix:** nutrient by country, label value versus reference.
- **At-risk claims:** claims (high in, source of, low in) that a reference value would not support in a given market.
- **Preparation notes:** where the reference food is not like for like.
- **Sources:** cite every figure to the capability and record it came from. Say what could not be found rather than guessing.
