# Used vinyl collection buy offer

For a list of titles with barcode or catalogue number where visible. Pressing matters: the same album can be worth a few dollars or a few hundred.

## 1. Identify each pressing

1. Look up each record with @[Discogs · Search](alexandria:discogs-com/releases/search) using `barcode` or `catno` first, falling back to artist and title with `format` Vinyl. Carry the release id and master id.
2. When several pressings match, list them with @[Discogs · Master versions](alexandria:discogs-com/releases/master_versions) and pick the one whose label, country and year fit the sleeve.

## 2. Market value

3. Read @[Discogs · Release](alexandria:discogs-com/releases/release) for each chosen pressing: **lowest_price**, **num_for_sale** and **community** have and want. Many wants and few copies for sale means it moves fast.

## 3. What bulk lots really fetch

4. Find completed record auctions with @[HiBid · Search auctions](alexandria:hibid-com/online-auctions/search_auctions) (`archived` true, query vinyl records, and a `date_start` and `date_end` covering the last six months, which the archive requires).
5. Read realised prices for two or three of those auctions with @[HiBid · Search lots](alexandria:hibid-com/online-auctions/search_lots) (`archived` true, `auction_id`) and note price per record in mixed lots.

## Write the offer

- **Per title:** pressing, lowest Discogs price, want-to-have ratio, quick-sell or slow flag.
- **Offer range:** sum of quick-sell values times the store's usual buy percentage (ask for it), checked against the bulk-lot price per record for the rest.
- **Grade closely:** titles where condition swings value the most.
- **Sources:** cite each price to its capability and date. Say which records could not be matched rather than guessing.
