# Clinical trial site feasibility scan

For one condition and three to six candidate cities. A city looks good until you count the rival trials chasing the same patients.

## 1. The competition

1. Search @[ClinicalTrials.gov · Trial search](alexandria:clinicaltrials-gov/clinical-trials/search) with the condition, status recruiting, and each city as location. Keep every **NCT number**.
2. Check @[ClinicalTrials.gov · Study dates](alexandria:clinicaltrials-gov/clinical-trials/study_dates) for those NCT numbers: actual versus estimated start and primary completion. Trials ending soon free up patients.
3. Open the three closest competitors with @[ClinicalTrials.gov · Study record](alexandria:clinicaltrials-gov/clinical-trials/study): sponsor, enrollment target, key eligibility criteria and which facilities they recruit at.

## 2. The investigators

4. Count matching specialists per city with @[NPI Registry · NPI search](alexandria:npiregistry-cms-hhs-gov/providers/search) (taxonomy, city, state). Note practices already used as sites in step 3.

## 3. The hospitals

5. List hospitals in each city with @[CMS Care Compare · Hospitals](alexandria:data-cms-gov/clinician-procedure-volume/hospitals); keep the **CCN** and overall star rating, and open the strongest with @[CMS Care Compare · Hospital](alexandria:data-cms-gov/clinician-procedure-volume/hospital) for measures better or worse than national.

## Write the scan

- **Ranking table:** city, competing recruiting trials, overlapping eligibility, matching specialists, best hospital and stars.
- **Top three sites:** why each, and which competitor trial to watch.
- **Risks:** sites already saturated by a named sponsor.
- **Sources:** cite each count to the NCT numbers, NPIs and CCNs used. Say what could not be found.
