DeFi protocol fundamentals check

Use when a crypto fund research analyst evaluates a DeFi protocol token before an allocation. Reads total value locked and its trend, fees versus revenue retained, the token's price history, past exploits of the protocol, and any prediction markets about it, producing a fundamentals note with a revenue multiple and risk flags.

# DeFi protocol fundamentals check

For one protocol (DeFiLlama slug) and its token. TVL shows usage, fees show demand, revenue shows what token holders may capture.

## 1. Usage and earnings

1. Read the protocol record and TVL history with @[DeFiLlama · Protocol](alexandria:defillama-com/crypto/protocol) (slug, history_limit 365). Carry chains, category and the latest TVL.
2. Read 365 days of fees with @[DeFiLlama · Protocol metrics](alexandria:defillama-com/crypto/protocol_metrics) (slug, metric fees, data_type dailyFees, history_limit 365) and again with data_type dailyRevenue. Revenue over fees is the take rate.
3. Rank it against its category with @[DeFiLlama · Metrics overview](alexandria:defillama-com/crypto/metrics_overview) (metric fees, category from step 1) to see whether it is gaining share.

## 2. Token

4. Read one year of token prices with @[DeFiLlama · Price chart](alexandria:defillama-com/crypto/price_chart) (coins the token's chain:address key, start the unix time one year back, period 1d, span 365). If the token trades on Coinbase, cross-check with @[Coinbase Exchange · Get candles](alexandria:api-exchange-coinbase-com/markets/get_candles) (product_id, granularity 86400).

## 3. Risk

5. Search past exploits with @[DeFiLlama · Hacks](alexandria:defillama-com/crypto/hacks) (query the protocol name). Note amount, technique and whether funds were returned.
6. Search prediction markets about the protocol or token with @[Polymarket · Query](alexandria:polymarket/search/query) (q the name, limit_per_type 5) for market-implied event risk.

## Write the fundamentals note

- **Usage:** TVL now and one year ago, chains.
- **Earnings:** annualised fees and revenue, take rate, category share trend.
- **Valuation:** market cap over annualised revenue, if market cap is known from the price and supply; otherwise say it could not be computed.
- **Risk flags:** exploit history, TVL concentration on one chain, any live prediction markets.
- **Sources:** cite every number to its DeFiLlama, Coinbase or Polymarket record and date. Do not infer token supply.
