Short-seller report triage

Use when a short seller publishes a report on a stock you own or cover and you need a view before the next open. Breaks the report into checkable claims and tests each against filings, insider trades, federal dockets and the reported numbers, producing a claim-by-claim scorecard and the questions to put to management.

# Short-seller report triage

For one stock and one short report. Each claim listed in step 2 is routed to the check that can test it.

## 1. Confirm and size it

1. Read @[Benzinga · Why Is It Moving](alexandria:benzinga/news/wiims) (tickers, date today) and @[Benzinga · News search](alexandria:benzinga/news/search) (tickers, dateFrom two days back) for the report's headline claims and the move.
2. List the claims and type each: related parties, revenue quality, undisclosed litigation, insider behaviour, or other.

## 2. Test each claim

3. Disclosure claims: search the company's filings with @[SEC · Search](alexandria:sec-gov/filings/search) (cik, query the named party or phrase in quotes). Disclosed but buried is different from undisclosed. Set both `from` and `to`: the search ignores `from` on its own.
4. Revenue quality: compare receivables with revenue over eight quarters using @[Fiscal.ai · Balance sheet](alexandria:fiscal-ai/financials/balance-sheet) and @[Fiscal.ai · Income statement](alexandria:fiscal-ai/financials/income-statement) (periodType quarterly). Rising days sales outstanding supports the claim.
5. Insider claims: read @[Fiscal.ai · Insider transactions](alexandria:fiscal-ai/ownership/insider-transactions) for sales in the six months before the report.
6. Litigation claims: search @[CourtListener · Search dockets](alexandria:courtlistener-com/dockets/search_dockets) (party_name the company, filed_after two years back) for the cases named.

## Write the triage

- **Scorecard:** claim, evidence found, status (supported, contradicted, unverifiable), source.
- **What is new:** claims not already in filings or prior coverage.
- **Questions for management:** one per supported or unverifiable claim.
- **Sources:** cite every figure to the capability and record it came from. Say what could not be found rather than guessing.
