Earthquake health response first look
Use when a humanitarian health cluster coordinator or NGO medical lead needs a first look within hours of a major earthquake. Reads the USGS event and impact alert, the country's health workforce and hospital bed indicators, maps hospitals near the epicentre, and finds open UN medical supply tenders, producing a sourced situation note.

# Earthquake health response first look For one significant earthquake. The first note must state what is known, from whom, and what is still unknown. ## 1. The event 1. Find it with @[USGS · Search](alexandria:earthquake-usgs-gov/earthquakes/search) (min_magnitude, start_time = last 48 hours, region). Keep the event **id**. 2. Read @[USGS · Event](alexandria:earthquake-usgs-gov/earthquakes/event) (id): magnitude, depth, location, PAGER alert level and impact estimates as USGS states them. ## 2. Health system capacity 3. Pull physicians and nurses per 1,000 with @[WHO GHO · Data](alexandria:who-int/indicators/data) (indicator codes found with @[WHO GHO · Indicators](alexandria:who-int/indicators/indicators), query medical doctors, nursing personnel). 4. Pull hospital beds per 1,000 and population with @[World Bank · Data](alexandria:data-worldbank-org/indicators/data). ## 3. Facilities near the epicentre 5. List hospitals and clinics within 50 km with @[OpenStreetMap · Search elements](alexandria:openstreetmap-org/places/search_elements) (tags amenity=hospital, clinic; around = epicentre). These are pre-event locations; damage is unknown. ## 4. Supply routes 6. Search @[UN Global Marketplace · Search notices](alexandria:ungm-org/public-tenders/search_notices) (countries = affected country, description medical, emergency, published in the last 7 days) for agency procurement already moving. ## Write the situation note - **Event:** time, magnitude, depth, PAGER level, quoted from USGS. - **Baseline capacity:** workforce and beds per 1,000, year of each. - **Facilities list:** name, distance from epicentre, OSM id. - **Procurement:** open notices, agency, deadline. - **Unknowns:** casualties, facility damage, access. - **Sources:** USGS event id, WHO and World Bank codes with years, OSM ids, notice ids. Say what could not be found and when to refresh.
