# Lobbying-to-vote influence map For one company or trade group and the policy it lobbies on. No single register shows influence; the join across four of them does. ## 1. What they lobbied for 1. Search @[Lobbying disclosures · Search filings](alexandria:lda-gov/lobbying-disclosures/search_filings) by **client_name** for the last two filing years. From each lobbying_activities entry keep the general issue code, the specific issues text (bill numbers such as H.R. 1234), the government entities contacted and the reported income or expenses. 2. Note the registrant firms and lobbyists with covered positions (former staff of a committee are the signal). ## 2. Where their money went 3. Resolve the client's PAC with @[FEC · Committees](alexandria:fec-gov/records/committees) (query the client name). Keep the **committee_id**. 4. List what that PAC paid with @[FEC · Disbursements](alexandria:fec-gov/records/disbursements) for the same cycle: recipient committees and amounts. ## 3. How the House voted 5. For each bill number from step 1, find its roll calls with @[House Clerk · Votes](alexandria:clerk-house-gov/legislative-votes/votes) (congress, session, bill). 6. Read each vote with @[House Clerk · Vote](alexandria:clerk-house-gov/legislative-votes/vote) and match member positions against the recipients from step 4. ## 4. What came back 7. Search @[USAspending · Award search](alexandria:usaspending-gov/awards/award_search) with the client as recipient, limited to the agencies contacted in step 1, before and after the lobbying period. ## Write the map - **Table:** bill, lobbying spend, PAC dollars to members who voted, how they voted. - **Agency track:** contacts reported versus awards received, with dates. - **Caveats:** timing is correlation, not proof of a quid pro quo; say so plainly. - **Sources:** cite each figure to its filing UUID, committee id, roll number or award id. List what could not be found.
