# Medtech country entry health-system scan

For three to eight candidate countries and one device category. Country ISO3 codes fixed in step 1 are used everywhere.

## 1. Capacity to adopt

1. Find the WHO codes for medical doctors per 10,000 and the UHC service coverage index with @[WHO GHO · Indicator search](alexandria:who-int/indicators/indicators), then pull the latest values with @[WHO GHO · Indicator data](alexandria:who-int/indicators/data) for every candidate.
2. Pull current health expenditure per capita and population 65 and over (% of total) with @[World Bank · Indicator data](alexandria:data-worldbank-org/indicators/data) (mrv 5) so you can see direction, not just level.

## 2. Ability to pay next year

3. Read real GDP growth and inflation forecasts for the candidates with @[IMF · World Economic Outlook](alexandria:data-imf-org/datasets/weo) (latest edition). Flag countries where inflation forecasts exceed growth.
4. For each local currency against USD, read @[XE · Rate history](alexandria:xe-com/exchange-rates/rate_history) over 1Y and note the range. Pricing in a volatile currency erodes margin.

5. Count device trials in the category per country with @[ClinicalTrials.gov · Trial search](alexandria:clinicaltrials-gov/clinical-trials/search) (condition or intervention the category, location the country). Existing sites mean investigators and regulators who have seen similar products.

## Write the scan

- **Scorecard:** one row per country with doctors per 10,000, UHC index, health spend per capita, 65+ share, GDP growth, inflation, currency range, trial count.
- **Ranking:** top three with the two metrics that decide each.
- **Watch-outs:** stale or missing series by country.
- **Sources:** cite every figure to the capability and record it came from. Say what could not be found rather than guessing.
