Repertory season programmer

Use when a cinema programmer, festival curator or film society is building a retrospective around a director or actor. Pulls the full filmography, checks which titles the BFI archive holds as film or video items, avoids titles already free to stream, and uses audience ratings and curated lists to order a season with rare prints and crowd-pleasers balanced.

# Repertory season programmer

For one director or performer and a season of 6 to 12 screenings. TMDB ids from step 1 are the join key.

## 1. The whole filmography

1. Resolve the person with @[TMDB · Search](alexandria:themoviedb-org/films/search) (media_type person) and read @[TMDB · Get person](alexandria:themoviedb-org/films/get_person) for every credit with year and role. Keep feature directing or lead acting credits.

## 2. What exists to screen

2. For each title, search the BFI archive with @[BFI Collections · Search records](alexandria:collections-search-bfi-org-uk/records/search_records) (database ChoiceFilmWorks, title condition), then read the work with @[BFI Collections · Get record](alexandria:collections-search-bfi-org-uk/records/get_record) and follow its film or video items. Note formats held (35mm, 16mm, digital).

## 3. What audiences already have

3. Read @[JustWatch · Title offers](alexandria:justwatch-com/streaming-availability/title_offers) for your country. Titles free on a major service draw smaller crowds; titles unavailable anywhere are your rarities.

## 4. Which ones land

4. Read audience scores with @[Letterboxd · Ratings bulk](alexandria:letterboxd-com/films/ratings_bulk), then for the top and the rarest titles check @[Letterboxd · Lists](alexandria:letterboxd-com/films/lists) (sort popular) to see which curated lists they appear in. List presence is a good proxy for a cult following.

## Write the season

- **Programme:** 6 to 12 titles ordered for the run, each with year, format held at the BFI, streaming status and Letterboxd average.
- **Anchors and rarities:** two crowd-pleasers to open and close, and the unavailable titles to promote.
- **Print enquiries:** BFI record references to request.
- **Sources:** cite every figure to the capability and record it came from. Say what could not be found rather than guessing.
